Growing Up Ringside:
A One-Woman Show

by Mina Liccione

Mina (Comedy Central, STOMP) returns with her acclaimed multimedia show weaving together hilarious and heartfelt stories from her New York upbringing as the daughter of an Italian-American boxing promoter. From wise guys to Muhammad Ali, broken bones and mended Broadway hopes, all the way to present day in Dubai where she pioneered a comedy scene while adjusting to a whole new Arabian world. Combining comedy, 360-degree projections and rhythm, she'll make you laugh then cry through a raw and heavy-hitting mixed-cultural lens. This special live-recording was filmed in Dubai.

Mina Liccione is an interdisciplinary performing artist and comedian originally hailing from New York. She has been seen in the hit show STOMP, MTV's The Grind, Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Theatre of Change Festival, National Lampoon's film Pucked, Image Nation’s film As One: The Autism Project, all 3 Seasons of Comedy Central Arabia’s Comedy Central Presents, Season 2 of Ridiculousness and Viacom Global’s Balcony Stories Series featured on Comedy Central and VH-1.

Mina was rated “Funniest People in 2012” by Rolling Stone Magazine, is a two time nominee for “Best Female Personality” by Ahlan Magazine and was awarded “Most Inspiring Woman” in the UAE by Philly Arabia and UN Women. In 2008, she took a leap of faith and moved to Dubai to co-found Dubomedy Arts with her now husband Ali Al Sayed which is home to the Region’s first Comedy School and all-female troupe; Funny Girls MENA. Mina has been coined "The UAE's Queen of Comedy" and is extremely passionate about using comedy as a tool to break stereotypes and bring together people from diverse backgrounds. The comedy duo also founded the Clowns Who Care Project whose mission is to bring art and joy to orphanages, refugee camps and children’s hospitals.

Mina filmed her 1-hour stand-up comedy special entitled "Mina Liccione: Araby By Nature" in May, 2017 acting as the first female comedian to do so in the Middle East. Her second special is currently airing on Comedy Central as part of the Mena W Fena Series and is on the new series Stand-up Sketch Show now streaming on ShahedMBC.

She recently premiered her brand new one woman multimedia show Growing Up Ringside to rave reviews at the Dubai Comedy Festival and ROC NY Fringe Festival and plans to tour international stages in 2022. Follow her on social media at @MinaLiccione.
